About This Perfume
Black by Kenneth Cole is a Floral fragrance for women. Black was launched in 2004. The nose behind this fragrance is Amandine Clerc-Marie. Top notes are Violet and Citruses; middle notes are White Flowers, Tuberose, Jasmine, Hiacynth, Magnolia, Lily-of-the-Valley, Lotus, Ylang-Ylang and Iris; base notes are Musk, Sandalwood and Amber. Black was created on the brand's 20th anniversary. Black is based on a gorgeous composition of white flowers which in this fragrance shows its real dark character, as it is living the night life while acting innocent in the daytime. These flowers sound intensive, luscious and passionate, even lusty. The composition opens with violet and citrus. Shortly the white flowers come to the scene and unrivalledly rule the heart of the fragrance: jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley, magnolia, tuberose, hyacinth, lotus and iris. The comfortable and warm notes of sandalwood, musk and amber tame the ecstatic flowers. The fragrance was created in 2004 by Marie Amandine.

The Brand

Kenneth Cole

Kenneth Cole is a New York designer-lifestyle brand whose fragrance line is built for the accessible, wearable, urban-professional buyer. The 21 live pieces on Scendira average .96 and skew heavily masculine (14 of 21) with a small feminine + unisex tail. Fresh (14) is by far the dominant family, with Woody (3), Floral, Leather, Gourmand and Clean & Musky rounding out. Prices are attractive: $10.50-$100 (average $53). Standout live pieces: Signature ($85,.23, powdery violet, grapefruit and spiced wood), Hyper Violet ($32.99,.19, fresh red apple, jasmine blooms, soft vanilla), Black Bold ($45.99,.16, bright citrus and mint over smoky cedar), Copper Black ($59.50,.13, smoky bourbon leather with sweet cardamom) and Energy ($23.95,.10, sunlit white flowers over clean musk). The reliable American-designer answer for a fresh-woody men's daily wear under $60.
